About Below The Bark

Below the Bark is a full service home based grooming shop conveniently located at the intersection of Yonge and St. Clair in the heart of mid-town Toronto. The philosophy is that grooming should be a pleasurable experience for all involved. Dogs are groomed one at a time in a relaxed and upbeat environment. All dogs are carefully groomed, bathed, and hand fluff dried. There are no cages, and dogs never have to sit and wait for the next step in their groom—it’s one continual process from start to finish. Some dogs are fearful or anxious about some elements of the grooming process, such as the feel of the blow drier, or having their nails clipped. At Below the Bark the goal is to alleviate these fears using kindness, patience, and allowing as much time as the dog needs to be comfortable. Sedatives are never used. Dogs love treats (who doesn’t!), but at Below the Bark dogs will only receive goodies with the express consent of their owner. Many pets have health issues and allergies. All dogs receive tons of verbal praise and pats on the head. If you would like to provide treats and/or comforting toys for your dog, you are more than welcome to do so. |
